The precautionary principle in TTIP: trade barrier or essential for consumer protection?

On 26th January the Trans-Atlantic Consumer Dialogue (TACD) organises a Multi-stakeholder Forum on the precautionary principle in TTIP in Brussels.

This year I will participate to the Multi-stakeholder Forum organised by the TACD. The forum will bring together participants representing civil society, government, legislators and business on both sides of the Atlantic to discuss issues of importance to consumers related to the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). The main focus of the event is the precautionary principle and its implications for the TTIP negotiations. In particular, during the day different sessions will take place, each one will deal with a specific subject such as: chemicals and pesticides, food, privacy and digital agenda.

I look forward to participating and engage in an active debate with a wide range of the most influential voices in the TTIP negotiations, including EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström and US Federal Trade Commissioner Julie Brill.

The event take will place on 26th January at the Renaissance Brussels Hotel, Rue du Parnasse 19 Brussels.
