Let the Doors Revolve
Together with my research assistant Benjamin Bodson, I published an Op-ed (also available in French here) on former European Commission Chief Barroso’s latest job move to Goldman Sachs.
Our Op-ed also appeared in the leading french-speaking Belgian business newspaper l’Echo.
We argue that, contrary to the salvific rhetoric embraced by the Juncker Commission – and blindly echoed by most media outlet across Europe –, there exist legal obligations preventing Barroso from taking up the jobs and there are avenues to actually make that happen.
Notwithstanding that Barroso’s move looks politically inopportune, it seems legally rather questionable. We thus identified three avenues on how to prevent him from taking the job. You can check them here.
