Reform at the Court of Justice of the EU
In the wake of a study on the reform of the Court of Justice of the EU that has been carried out within the framework of the HEC-NYU EU Clinic, I had the chance to give an interview to the New York Times and Politico.
What is the study about?
Very soon the CJEU will change radically. According to recently enacted Regulation 2015/2422, the General Court will double in size to a total of 56 judges (two per member state instead of one), and the specialized Civil Service Tribunal will be dissolved by September 2016. Bankrolling so many new judges is expensive, and both the prudence and legality of this reform are highly contentious. A preview of the study is available here.
